These handbags were original designs of Anthony Immordino of Concey’s of Fifth Avenue, New York. Mr. Immordino designed bags for such personalities as Eleanor Roosevelt, Ethel Merman, Mary Pickford and thte Dutchess of Windsor to name a few. He was the child of Italian immigrants, and left high school during the Great Depression to support his parents. At 16 he began to draw women’s handbags, and in 1930 opened the doors of Concey’s of Fifth Avenue.
His company existed in New York City from 1930-1942, when the war in 1943 forced him to close his doors, because he was unable to obtain leather, which was needed for the wartime necessities. His bags were sold at Saks Fifth Avenue, Bergdorf Goodman and Bonwit Teller.
Mr. Immordino is 99 today, and one of his lines is being recreated by his daughter Connie. These bags are made in a special selection of fabrics to enhance the elegance of the bag. Each fabric is hand selected and on some special accents have been added. These are all one of a kind. You may choose from one of these selections or have one made in your own selected fabric to match a special dress or gown.
